A Vinexpo Diary
Towards the second-half of June, with the 2010 En Primeur campaign running very late, came Vinexpo in Bordeaux. 48,000 visitors descended on Bordeaux, to
the kilometre-long building that fronts the Lac. According to the statistics
released by Vinexpo, one-third of all non-French visitors came from...

Bordeaux 2010 Vintage Report
It is that time of year again, for Bordeaux En Primeurs. Fortunately, this year, there have been no British Airways strikes (yet), no volcanic ash clouds, and we, along
with a significant portion of the world’s wine trade, were in Bordeaux in
glorious weather, to taste the new vintage, 2010, billed again as outstanding.

A Tasting of Château La Mission Haut-Brion
It is always a bit of a shock when driving through the southern suburbs of Bordeaux to suddenly happen upon vineyards of such greatness as Haut-Brion and
La Mission Haut-Brion, situated on the other side of the road.

Château Palmer
Whenever one thinks of an image of a Bordeaux château, there are normally two that spring to mind. One is that of Pichon Baron, in Pauillac, the other, Palmer, in
Margaux.

A Cru Classe Visit to Bordeaux (July 2010)
Well, we finally made it. In late July, a team from Vinum headed by our chairman, Mr Desmond Lim,as well as the wine director and a sommelier from our sister
business, Les Amis, touched down in a sweltering Bordeaux.

Opera in Summer, and Chateau Pape-Clement
The UK in Summer is a glorious place. Summer just doesn’t happen very often, or if it does, it doesn’t last very long. Here in London it has been hot – too hot for the
non-airconditioned underground and stuffy shops and offices.

Bordeaux 2009 (April 2010)
I must apologise to our readers, on behalf of Iceland, whose totally unpronounceable volcano sadly prevented our chairman, Mr Desmond Lim, from travelling to
Europe for a visit to Bordeaux.

Chateaux Leoville Las Cases: A Super-Second
The commune of St Julien in the Médoc has no first-growth châteaux, and one feels slightly sorry for it compared to its neighbour Pauillac to the north, with a rather
greedy 3. However, amongst its ranks are a number of excellent second-growths
which do in some years give the first-growths a run for their money.

Moueix Dinner @ Les Amis, December 2009
Vinum were pleased to be able to welcome Edouard Moueix to Singapore last month. Edourd is the son of Christian Moueix, owner of Etablissments Jean-Pierre
Moueix which owns and distributes a number of châteaux on the
Right Bank in Bordeaux, that is to say Pomerol & St Emilion, including ...

Vintage Report 2009
2009s growing season in France has on the whole been particularly benign, save for two spells in May and in July. In May, hail struck some parts of the Côte de
Nuits, causing limited damage, particularly in the Clos de la Roche
vineyard, whilst in Bordeaux, the situation was much more grave.

A Winter Tasting of Chateau Margaux in London
The finger of land that points north-westwards from Bordeaux, the Médoc, supports an undulating mass of vineyards that slope gently down to the ever-widening
Gironde estuary. This is not the dramatic landscape that one associates with
many great wine regions..
